How We Work
Artist-led residencies
The core of Rosetta Life’s work is artist-led residencies in hospices. We work in partnership with the hospice/hospital to:
- recruit an artist;
- run awareness days at the hospice which enable the whole hospice to understand the project
- run a training program for the artist to enable him/her to grasp the ethics of working in hospices and to get to grips with our approach.
The local artists work either one-to-one with hospice users or run group projects to enable people to find their creative voice and an artistic form to hold their shape.
Annual celebration events enable the whole hospice to mark the successful completion of artistic projects and to celebrate the stories that have been told and shared.
A support network for artists in healthcare
Artists meet regularly at a regional level for peer group support. Artists meet nationally to share best practice, develop new projects and to update skills in digital arts and new software.
A user-led service
A users steering group will advise the management committee on editorial content and quality. The users groups also meet regionally to devise group projects that bring hospice users together with a wider group of people living with chronic illnesses. The users groups also advise on the creative projects run at each hospice and coordinate the user led initiatives across the regions.
Rosetta Life has edited a book, My Place at the Front of the Queue, that is a result of a series of user-led interventions in hospice and cancer care. It will be published by Radcliffe Press Summer 2007.
