Akbar Mijit was born in Kashgar, an ancient city on the Silk Road. He was a Uighur and proud of the rich culture of his people.
It was this which inspired his work.
Sally Mijit (Akbar's wife) put this installation together to celebrate the colours and images which fired Akbar's imagination.
"By placing it in a public gallery, I have the opportunity to voice his passion for a culture that is little known and let the culture speak for itself."
