ANIMAL
JAZZ - Delhi, Barcelona, London
Delhi
The sacred cow, she ambles, rambles, shambles
Thoroughly chuffed, complacent with her role.
To shoulder past the crowds, to spoil their stroll,
To make the scooter deviate,
The cyclist late,
However direly loaded.
Her hump-back heaves with solid self-esteem.
No thinking beast could dream
Of being so well in place,
For, in her case,
Who put her there but the Mahatma's self?
Not fame, not pelf,
Not law, religion - all can be exploded.
But when she comes with his imprimatur
Who'll not give way to her?
