If: a film by Neville Oates >>View the film
Neville Oates brought together some of his favourite sunrise photographs
that he took after he was diagnosed with a chronic lung condition.
Neville used his digital camera to record the beautiful morning skies from
his home in the Kent where he spent much of his time outdoors
enjoying the fresh air. Neville included in his film extracts from the
poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling, which he came across in 1948 whilst serving in
the Navy. The poem captured his imagination and he introduced the poem to
his children and his grandchildren. The sequence of images inspired Neville
to choose Rachmaninov's piano concerto no.2 from his huge collection of
classical music. |

"Dancing Leaves"
This animation project involved almost everyone has played a part in it's creation! First we collected as many different varieties of leaves that we could find. Then we used pastels and chalks to make rubbings on paper and cut out each design. Before we stuck the designs down on paper to make a collage, we decided that we could make an animation of them dancing, just as they would, blowing around in the wind. We chose a piece of classical music from our library here at the Hospice, a movement from Dvorak's Symphony No.8 called Allegretto grazioso - Molto vivace

Within two years, Don had been called up for National Service, during which he represented the RAF in various competitions. After two years National Service, Don continued to run at a national level, for his County and the Harriers.
