The Mind of an Engineer was recently launched by Rosetta Life at Myton Hospices in Warwick, Rugby and Coventry. In the desolate heartlands of Britain’s once proud engineering industry, many of those who manned the machine tools, designed turbines, paint-sprayed cars are now attending West Midlands hospices. For most the original flame of their passion for engineering still burns, in spite of life threatening illness. Through one-on-one and group encounters with the very people that powered an industry, The Mind of an Engineer is evolving an online mosaic of powerful engineering memories that has something to teach us today. Through the words of those who dedicated their working lives to an industry that died, this project uses film, photograph and song to explore identity and craft, and the impulse to shape the world that endures in our hands and eyes, even as the human body fails.
