Recurring Mice

Performance project developed and performed by women living with Breast Cancer using support groups at St Thomas Hospital, London SE1. Supported by dancer and choreographer Lucia Walker and Miranda Tufnell. Performed for a week at Southwark Playhouse, SE1 in 2006.

‘I think that the project was a huge success .While the project clearly benefited three women who were finding it very difficult to move beyond their experience of cancer and re-engage with life in their community, the most surprising impact was on the wider group of women living with cancer who attended support groups. The change in the women who danced on stage was so profound and so marked that others were amazed by the impact of the performance and many wished that they too had the opportunity to take part. Two women were on strong anti depressants and during the process of performance both women were withdrawn from their medication by their consultants. We would welcome another project and would like it to have wider reach within the hospital.’
